Mia Spicuzza Guzlas is a diverse teacher, choreographer and dancer who is proficient in many areas of the art. Her dance training began over 25 years ago with a strong background in Ballet. She also excels in Jazz, Lyrical, Acrobatics, Tap, Musical Theatre, Swing and even Latin Tap. In Mobile, Alabama she attended and performed in the companies of: Melinda Leighs School of Dance, Dunbar Creative and Performing Arts Magnet School, Sheffield School of the Dance and Mobile Ballet, performing in the Nutcracker and Swan Lake. Most recently she has been in the Robinsons School of Dance Company. In Louisiana, she trained at Javiers Dance Studio and Body Expressions Center of Performing Arts. Some of her credits included appearances on ESPN2 featuring Paula Abdul, and MTV on the Newlyweds featuring Jessica Simpson. Mia also works with Bowl Games of America as the Event Director and also with the Choreography staff. Her work includes: 2003 Sugar Bowl half time show, 2004 Sugar Bowl pre-game, and halftime show featuring Jessica Simpson, 2004 Liberty Bowl halftime show featuring Lou Rawls, 2005 Gator Bowl half time show, 2005 Liberty Bowl halftime show featuring The Beach Boys and 2006 Liberty Bowl halftime show featuring LeAnn Rimes. Mia also performed in the 2007 Liberty Bowl President’s Gala with Taylor Hicks. Mia has also worked as the choreographer/instructor for different studios along the Gulf Coast for the past 8 years. Her choreography work has won numerous awards. She has toured throughout the southeast professionally and holds many Platinum and Top Overall awards for solos and group dances. She has been chosen several times as a scholarship winner at Tremaine, L.A. Dance Magic, Co Dance, and Dupree Dance conventions. In 2006 Mia traveled to New York to receive her Certificate in Dance Teaching from The Broadway Dance Center. In 2007 Mia was a judge for Jamfest Dance and Cheer competition Nationals. In addition to her instruction at South Baldwin Dance Center, Mia is also a current faculty member at Mobile Ballet.
